Fern Yvonne Rasmussen was born in Garden City, SD on November 2, 1927 to parents Clyde and Sarah (Hattervig) Fredrickson. When she was 2 years old, her father passed away from leukemia, leaving her mother to raise 8 children on her own. Her mother then moved the family back to her old home of Centerville, SD to be closer to family. Yvonne spent all her school years in Centerville, graduating as Homecoming Queen from Centerville High School. During high school she enjoyed working at the local ice cream store & grocery store. After graduation, she worked in Sioux Falls as a bookkeeper for Hutton Tufty. Yvonne was baptized, confirmed and married at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville.

On January 27, 1948, she married Dewey Rasmussen and moved to the Rasmussen farm north of Beresford where they lived & farmed until moving into Beresford in 1991. Yvonne loved flowers and many neighbors remember her beautiful flower bed that she lovingly cared for. She was also the ultimate homemaker, keeping a beautiful home and always ready to feed whoever walked in the door with delicious treats and meals.

Yvonne is survived by her sons, Norm and Don (Beth), 2 granddaughters, Tina (Brent) Hepner and Dr. Jessica Rasmussen, and 1 grandson, Tyler (Rachel) Rasmussen, along with 6 great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter-in-law Altie, mother, father, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
