A memorial service for Wilbur Bos was held 11AM, Tuesday, February 7 at Brooklyn Evangelical Free Church in Beresford, SD. Wilbur donated his body to the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. A burial will be held at a later date. Our beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Brother, Wilbur Allen Bos, 75 years young in spirit and soul, but tired in body, left his earthly home and woke up in Heaven on the morning of Sunday, February 05, 2006. Wilbur was born in Hawarden, IA to John and Grace (Schotonus) Bos on December 9, 1930. He married Frieda DeJong on April 8, 1952. They had two children, Susan and George, three foster children, Julie, John and Jade and later adopted Jade. Wilbur worked in the plumbing and heating business. He then changed careers becoming a lineman for the city of Hawarden. He later acquired the position of foreman from which he retired. In his retirement he continued to be a cheerful and willing steward offering a helpful hand whenever he saw a need. Wilbur was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Hawarden for 25 years and later became a member of the Brooklyn Evangelical Free Church in Beresford, SD. He was also a member of the Beresford American Legion. His hobbies and interests included helping many people, woodworking and camping. Many hearts are filled with sadness as Wilbur leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Frieda, of Beresford; his children: George Bos and wife Dorothy of Brookings, SD; Susan Peterson of St. Francis, SD; Jade Bos of Fort Lauderdale, FL; John Blankenship and wife Erin of Hawarden, IA and Julie Ymker of Rock Valley, IA; 10 grandchildren: Christopher, John and Elizabeth Bos, Julie (George) Decker, Aaron and Wade Peterson, Justin Ymker and Jaylen, Kezden and Shayden Blankenship; 5 brothers: Richard (Tina) Bos, California, Hank (Kathleen) Bos, Mitchell, SD, John (Margo) Bos and Andrew Bos, Yankton, SD, and Clarence (Myrna) Bos, Renner, SD; two sisters: Elsie Waterbury, Minneapolis and Jeanette Van Liere, Dell Rapids, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles and Ralph and one sister Margaret.
