Wayne Jospeh O'Hara was born July 12, 1932 near Humboldt, SD to parents Michael and Katherine (Wood) O'Hara. He passed away on August 22, 2014 at Southridge Health Care Center in Sioux Falls. Wayne married Norma Letsche on September 19, 1953. He served in the United States Army from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1974. He was stationed at several bases in the United States and overseas and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Upon retiring from the Army he moved to the Beresford area where he worked on road construction during the building of Interstate 29, helped Jim Kennedy with his team of Clydesdale horses, worked for Truck Towne and also worked at the Beresford Recycling Center. He enjoyed fishing, tractors and collecting John Deere memorabilia. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma O'Hara, Beresford; 3 sons, Merlyn (Linda), Beresford, Clifford (Kathy), Sioux Falls, and Kirk (Dawn), Beresford; 2 daughters, Linda Thwing, Sioux Falls and Pamela (Paul) Baker, Kansas City, MO; a sister Ann Carlson, Sioux Falls; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Bobby and Gerald, 3 sisters, Grace, Rachael and Leona, and 2 grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 27 at First English Lutheran Church, Centerville, SD, with burial to follow at Rosehill Cemetery, Parker, SD. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5PM to 7PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
