IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wayne Eugene
Hamilton
December 29, 1930 – February 21, 2025
Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant, Wayne. Wayne Eugene Hamilton was given life by his creator and was born on December 29, 1930, the child of Carroll and Laura (Zachow) Hamilton. On February 15, 1931 he received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. On June 15, 1947 he publicly confessed his faith and was confirmed. He received the precious gift of the Lord's life-giving body and blood. On April 20, 1952 he received the gift of a beloved companion in his spouse, Lorraine Barinsky. He was blessed with the gift of children, Kevin and Sally.
God blessed Wayne's life with many special people as he served God in his vocations at home, church, work, and in the community. Following his graduation from Hawarden High School Wayne worked for Wanless Implement Company. He was drafted into the US Army in 1952 and received an honorable discharge in 1954. Wayne and Lorraine farmed and had a dairy operation near Alcester. He loved animals and was known for his bright, warm, caring personality.
Finally, on February 21, 2025 God blessed Wayne with a holy death and took him home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead, having lived in this life 94 years, one months and 25 days. He is preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers: Delbert Hamilton, Elvin Hamilton, Richard Hamilton, and Lester Hamilton, and his wife of 70 years, Lorraine. Grateful for having shared his life are his brother Jack Hamilton, sister Angeline (Phillip) Van Wyhe, his son Kevin Hamilton; daughter, Sally (Cory) Fisher; grandson, Andrew Wickre; granddaughter, Selena Fisher, and his great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00AM Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church, 309 East 2nd Street, Alcester, SD 57001. Visitation will be 5-7PM Wednesday at the Wass Funeral Chapel in Alcester.
A special thanks and recognition for the caregivers who took such good care of Wayne: Babs, Jen, Sandy, Madison, Ella, Amber and Tim.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our brother in Christ, Wayne.
