Wayne Erickson, age 86, of Beresford, SD died October 15, 2008 peacefully at his home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville, SD. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Scandia Lutheran Church with the family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Carlton Wayne Erickson was born September 24, 1922 to Carl and Fanny (DeVries) Erickson. He grew up on a farm south of Davis, SD. His family moved to Centerville where he attended high school and was valedictorian of his class. Wayne attended Augustana College and was drafted into the US Navy and served during WWII. After the service, Wayne returned to the family farm. He was married to Bonnie Foss on April 25, 1961.

Wayne was active in raising hogs and was honored as a Master Pork Producer. He served on the board at First Federal Bank and at Farmers CO-OP Elevator. Wayne was an avid sports fan; he followed the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. His life was enriched by his grandchildren; he loved watching all their activities.

Grateful for sharing his life are his loving wife, Bonnie; son, Tom (Amy) Erickson of Centerville; daughter, Ann (Tim) DeLay of Beresford; grandchildren, Andrew and Zach Erickson and Alli and Lexi DeLay; and two sisters, Arlene Osthus and Gladys (Wally) Larson.

Preceding him in death were his parents, infant son, Anton and half-sister, Inez Peterson.
