Wayne Diedrich was born June 25, 1950 in Belle Fourche, SD to parents Lyle and Fern (Barker) Diedrich. He died Monday, March 26, 2012 at Sanford Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 61 years, nine months and one day. He attended Douglas Elementary School at Ellsworth Air Base and graduated from Canton High School in 1968. Wayne joined the US Navy and served for four years during Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge, he worked at his uncle's gas station while attending the School of Mines in Rapid City. He married Edith Arends in 1975. They lived in Rapid City and several cities in the Black Hills before settling in Beresford in 1981. Wayne worked as a carpet cleaner for 32 years before being forced to retire due to ill health. He enjoyed time spent with the coffee crew at Co-Op II in Beresford and fishing. Those that survive include his wife, Edith of Beresford; son, John (Melissa) Diedrich of Casper, WY; two daughters, Shiela (Daniel) Burch of Modesto, CA and Jennifer Diedrich and her boyfriend, Steven Morgan of Sioux Falls; two grandsons, Levi and Evan Burch; one granddaughter, Albany Diedrich; his special "mom and dad", Roberta and Floyd Anderson and his "adopted siblings", Gloria, Ron, Leola, Leon and Richard. His parents and maternal grandparents preceded him in death. Visitation will be 4-8PM Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 5-7PM and a prayer service at 7PM. Burial with military honors will be at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
