Wanda Gwyneth Miller, 99, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 following a short stay of loving care at the Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD.
Wanda was born on October 20, 1923 to Robert and Darledmon (Eby) Keehn. She graduated from Hawarden High School in Hawarden, Iowa. She married her high school sweetheart and soul mate James Quinten Miller on February 19, 1944. They were married for 68 years before his death October 19,2012. She met him in Heaven on Valentine's day and will be laid to rest beside him on the 79th anniversary of their marriage.
In 1946, the couple bought a farm in the Beresford area, which is where Wanda lived for the next 75 years. Wanda loved farm-life, flower and vegetable gardening, and working side by side with Quinten until retirement - usually whistling while she worked. After retirement they enjoyed woodworking and made beautiful pieces from oak and walnut for family, and enjoyed taking their creations to craft fairs throughout the region. Wanda made many new treasured friends at the Beresford Senior Citizens Center and was just beginning to expand her circle of friends when she moved to Bethesda Inn in December of 2022. She stayed active doing the things she loved her whole life. She was involved in many organizations and was a long term member of the Beresford Zion United Methodist Church. She was a great cook, and enjoyed making meals for family. She loved to bake and share her goodies, especially raisin cookies and many varieties of rhubarb jam. She greatly enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends and she really loved to win!
Family was Wanda's greatest treasure. On the day of her passing, she made a Valentine message for her family that said "I love each and every one of you!" and wanted to be sure the message, along with a picture of her holding the card and wearing crazy valentine glasses, would be sent to all she loved. She was a treasure to her 5 children, fourteen grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She welcomed and loved all of those that married into her family as her own. Wanda's children and their families are: Jim and Sharon (Clay) Miller of Mandan, ND (Brian &Tonya -[Danielle & Alex Burkel {Mea, Reese, Bekha & Navy}, James Tyler & finance Andrea, Clay & Hannah {Sutton}, and Madison and friend Luke], Kevin & Melissa [ Owen & Easton], Nathan &Cassie [Makenzie, Rylee & Avery]); Dennis and Susan (James) Miller of Bloomington, IL (Dean &Maria [Cameron],(Paul & Ivana [Grace & Patrik]); Donald Miller of Owatonna, MN (Curtis & Jenny [Anora and John], Kyle &Ashley and Emily); Julie and Wayne Gottsleben of Brandon, SD (Greg & Allison[Lincoln] and Angie & Jasten White [Skya and Ryzen]); and Lisa and Shelby Docken (Jeremy & Amber [Kyzer and Kailey], Ryan & Becka [Thomas], Eric & Mckenzie [Grace, Cora and Emma] and Alex).
Wanda is also survived by one Brother, Robert Keehn of Hawarden, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Orlean Beaubien, brother Charles Keehn and several brothers and sisters in-law (Armond Beaubien, Barb, Doris and Leslie Keehn, Bonnie Keehn, Bob and Ruth Miller, Tom and Dorothy Berry, and Chuck and Alice Marie Kopp).
