Violet Muriel Erickson Henderson was born January 8, 1921 to Nels and Christina (Peterson) Johnson on the family farm near Beresford, SD. She died December 15, 2010 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 7 days.

Violet attended Sunnyside School. She worked in Sioux Falls, California and Sioux City. She married John Erickson on November 23, 1952 in Beresford. The couple resided on a farm in the rural Beresford area until moving to Sioux Falls in 1999. John passed away on May 6, 1999. She married Glenn Henderson in December of 2000 and continued to live in Sioux Falls. Glenn passed away in September of 2010.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husbands John and Glenn, a daughter in infancy, a grandson Kent, a sister Darlene and her brother Virgil.

She is survived by two sons: Steve Erickson and Dale Erickson and his wife Kattina all of Beresford; step children Doug, Randy, Rod and Scott Henderson and Carol Fischer; grandchildren, Jake, Micah, Melissa, Crystal, Stefanie, Joseph and Lorenna; three great grandchildren; her brother Delmar Johnson and wife Lavonne of Beresford; a special niece Lori Johnson; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Tuesday, December 21 at Zion United Methodist Church in Beresford with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, rural Beresford.
