Obituary

Funeral services for Violet K. Heidebrecht will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Living Word Fellowship in Beresford, SD. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.



Violet was born April 5, 1916 on the family homestead in rural Beresford. Her parents were Oscar and Alma (Carlson) Norling. She went to be with her Lord and Savior September 2, 2008 in Mitchell, SD at the age of 92 years, four months and 27 days.



She was baptized and confirmed at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville. Violet attended Ash Creek grade school and graduated from Centerville High School in 1934.



November 20, 1937 she married Arno N. Heidebrecht in Havre, MT. They made their home in Beresford on the family homestead, Turlock, CA and McMinnville, OR. When Violets father passed away they returned to the family homestead and farmed there for 27 years. Later they managed motels in Beresford and Madison, SD until they retired in 1977. They both enjoyed their retirement, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arno died in 1982.



Violet attended Komstad Covenant Church throughout her adult life. She was in the Ladies Aid and was a Sunday school and Bible School teacher. Violet attended and was active in Living Word Fellowship after she moved to Beresford. She held many Bible Studies in her home over the years. Violet belonged to the Christian Womens Club in Beresford and Centerville, was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and delivered Meals on Wheels in Beresford.



Survivors include her children, Larry (Carrol) of Beresford, Gloria (Marty) Ziemetz of Alexandria, MN, Arlene (John) Fletcher of Tucson, AZ, Arnold of Orange, CA, Norma Holthe of Independence, MO, Valerie Smidt of Vero Beach, FL and Audrey (Rod) Goodwin of Mitchell, and Keith (Darcy) of Emerson, NE. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, nephew, Roy Hedin of Beverly Hills, FL and several extended family members.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Philip; grandson, Peter; great-grandson, Zachary; sister, Anna Saugstad and niece, Joan Aikens.



Violet has been a blessing to all her children and extended family and friends. By her example she has taught her children to live their lives according to Gods word. Her legacy will live on in her children and her childrens children. She will enjoy the rewards that God had planned for her even before she was born. Come Lord Jesus.
