Violet Evelyn Geveshausen was born June 22, 1925 in Centerville, South Dakota to Axel and Eva (Carlson) Danielsen. She passed away peacefully with family by her side Monday, September 11, 2017 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 92 years, two months and 19 days.

Violet was raised and educated in Centerville where she graduated from high school. She worked at the Smith's Sandwich Shop Cafe in Beresford. Violet married Earl L. Geveshausen in 1944. They made their home in Beresford and lived in the same house for 73 years where they raised their seven children. She loved to have family gatherings where she would cook for everyone. Violet loved to care for her flowers, both indoors and in the yard, and she liked watching the many varieties of birds in the area. She enjoyed sewing, doing embroidery and collecting Japanese collectibles. Following Earl's death in 2001 she continued to live in Beresford.

Back in the 1960's, every Friday night, all the family would jump in the station wagon and go to Sioux Falls to go shopping at K-Mart and Lewis Drug which she really enjoyed and we did too. Then they would go to the M&H Hamburger drive-in and order enough food for the entire family and get home about midnight. So fun! Violet also really enjoyed camping and fishing by the river. She enjoyed taking care of the neighbor children and loved them as well.

Violet really loved when all her children and grandchildren would come over. She loved them all and took interest in all of them and they loved being with her, too. She would always comfort you in the time of need. Violet was a very sweet and kindhearted lady and will be deeply, deeply missed every day. We will see you again, Mother, rest in peace, So Long, So Long.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; granddaughter, Nancy Sangster; sister, Mildred Mossefin; and two brothers, Glen and Melvin Danielsen.

She is survived by her seven children, Carol (David) Peterson of Amarillo, TX, Betty (Roy) Vander Waerdt of Worthing, SD, Lee (Mary) Geveshausen of Beresford, Daniel (Geri) Geveshausen of Omaha, NE, Sharon (Charles) Eastman of Sioux Falls, Larry (Kim) Geveshausen of Plattsmouth, NE and Gary Geveshausen of Beresford; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life and services for Violet will be held. Visitation will be 2-7PM Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Brooklyn Evangelical Free Church, rural Beresford, SD with the family present from 5-7PM and a prayer service at 7PM. Funeral services will be 2PM Friday, September 15, 2017 at the church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
