Funeral services for Viola Jensen will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Viola S. Jensen was born January 24, 1914 in Clay County, South Dakota, to parents Allen and Marie (Erickson) Johnson. She died November 3, 2007 at Bethesda of Beresford at the age of 93 years, nine months and nine days. She was raised in the village of Alsen with her brothers and was educated at Cleveland Rural School. Viola was baptized and confirmed at Dalesburg Lutheran Church. She worked as a telephone operator for 16 years at AB&E. On her birthday, January 24, 1948 she married Timan Jensen. They made their home in Beresford where Viola worked as a nurse aide at Bethesda of Beresford. Timan died October 9, 1958; Viola continued to live in Beresford, raise her daughters and work at Bethesda. She was active in her church circle, was a member of a local extension club and the VFW Auxiliary. Her joy in life was her family, especially her grandsons. Viola is survived by her twin daughters, Karen Gale and her husband, Denny and Sharon Hetland and her husband, Gene all of Sioux Falls; two grandsons, Brian Gale and his wife, Lisa and Patrick Gale and his wife, Susanne, one great-granddaughter, Alivia Gale; one brother Clifton Johnson; four sisters-in-law, Marcella Johnson, LaVon Johnson, Bertha Johnson and Delona Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, and five brothers, Virgil, Melvin, Wayne, Lloyd and Royal preceded her in death.
