Veronica A. (Fitzgerald) Muller died March 23, 2024 at the Bethesda Care Center in Beresford, South Dakota at the age of 91 years, three months and two days. Veronica, also known as "Bonnie" to many, was born December 21, 1932 in rural Beresford to John and Theresa (Gendreau) Fitzgerald. She was the eighth of 13 children. She was raised on the family farm 12 miles south of Beresford; Veronica graduated from Beresford High School in 1951. She married William "Bill" Muller on May 13, 1952 and were married for 60 years prior to his passing in 2012. They had five children, Jean, Larry, Donna, Randy and Laura.

Veronica was dedicated to the community of Beresford. She was a strong supporter of Bill as he served as Mayor of Beresford from 1980–1990.  She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She and Bill were dedicated public servants throughout their lifetime.

Veronica worked side by side with Bill in all their business endeavors. This included the city garbage route for 10 years and in 1969 they purchased the Standard Station. In 1971 they built a new Standard Station on Hwy 46 & I-29. In 1977 they purchased the old Mobile Station on South 3rd Street at which time they partnered with son Larry and combined the auto parts store and moved to Main Street. Bill and Veronica remained active in the business until 1989.

Those who survive and gracefully shared her life are her children, Jean & Richard Geraets of Sioux Falls, SD, Donna & Rick Mertz of Lincoln, NE and Laura & Ron Fergeson of Grapevine, TX; 10 grandchildren, Kristin Turner, Kelli Bertsch (Nick Hesse), Brad (Noelle) Muller, Jill (Michael) Danahay, Luke (Amber) Muller, Samantha (Nate) Persell, William Mertz, Nicholas Muller, Jesse  Fergeson and Brianna Fergeson; 17 great-grandchildren, Jaxson Turner, Cruz and Payton Hesse, Ally, Jaden and Maiya Muller, Skye and Ryker Muller, Aurmoni  Scott-Muller, Austin and Maddie Danahay, Adeline, Declan and Callen Persell, Brantley Mertz, Kahne Muller and Harper Fergeson. She is also survived by one brother, Gerald (Geraldine) Fitzgerald of Beresford; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Earl of El Dorado Hills, CA and her daughter-in-law, Deb Muller of Beresford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; two sons, Larry and Randy Muller; and 11 siblings.  Blessed be her memory!

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford, with burial to follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery, rural Beresford. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5PM to 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with a rosary at 7PM. The family requests memorials to the charity of the donor's choice.
