VerDell Osthus "Pete" Andal was born May 15, 1927 in Hooker, South Dakota to parents Alfred and Inga (Osthus) Andal. He died February 24, 2012 at his home in rural Centerville, SD at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 9 days. Pete attended Hooker rural school and graduated from Centerville High School. He then farmed with his father for several years. He married Loreen Harrington in 1957 and moved to their current home in 1961. Pete farmed until his retirement in 2008. It was his wish to remain on his farm and after he got sick Loreen and his daughter Joni lovingly cared for him at home until his death. Pete was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church for many years. He loved being a farmer. He loved the land and enjoyed animals. Pete also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and playing cards. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jim and Arnold and two sisters, Sylvia Gors and Alice Willms. He is survived by his wife Loreen Andal and his daughter Joni Andal, both of Centerville; sister Mary Ann Nelson and husband Warren of Viborg, SD; special niece Cindy Orr of Sioux Falls; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, February 27 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Centerville with burial at Holland Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5PM to 7PM with a prayer service at 6PM at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville.
