Todd Kendall Merrick was born June 4, 1961 in Hawarden, IA to parents Richard and Janet (Johnson) Merrick. He died November 5, 2010 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Fallls, SD after a long hard-fought battle with cancer at the age of 49 years, 5 months and 1 day.

Todd graduated from Alcester High School in 1979 and attended Dakota State College until 1982 when he returned to the family to farm with his Dad. He married Linda Farley on July 2, 1988 in Beresford. The couple made their home in rural Alcester where Todd lived until the time of his death.

Todd was a farmer and loved to work the ground and raise cattle. He had a passion to enjoy life and went on numerous hunting and fishing trips with his sons and friends.

His is survived by his wife of 22 years, Linda and sons Alex, Levi and Lance all of Alcester; parents Dick and Janet Merrick of Alcester; sister Dawn Merrick of Chatsworth, IA, brother Tory Merrick of Alcester and sisters Holly (Kevin) Liston and Kristi DeBruin all of Alcester; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his nephew Jordan Merrick.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Big Springs Baptist Church, rural Alcester, with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Monday from 5PM to 7PM at Big Springs Baptist Church with a prayer service beginning at 7PM.
