Sylvia Bonine was born on June 8, 1925 in Lincoln County, South Dakota to parents Patrick and Josephine Logsdon. She died April 16, 2016 in Knoxville, TN at the age of 90 years.

She attended country schools in Lincoln and Clay counties in SD and graduated from Wakonda High School. Sylvia attended Yankton College and the University of South Dakota receiving her teaching certificate. She began her 37 year teaching career in Turner County, SD. Later she taught in country schools and finished her last 14 years at St. Peter's Catholic School in Jefferson.

On November 10, 1945 in Vermillion, SD Sylvia Logsdon and Donald Bonine were united in marriage; into this union five children were born; Russell, Barbara, Patricia, Kathleen and Dan.

She was a member of the Beresford Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the Beresford Royal Neighbors of America and St. Peter's Altar Society. Sylvia was also active in numerous church organizations and served as Treasurer of the Fatima Family Apostolate for 17 years. Sylvia enjoyed teaching, shopping, traveling and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed writing letters and sending greeting cards.
