Funeral services for Susanna Hofer will be 10AM Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Brooklyn Evangelical Free Church in Beresford and visitation will be 6-9PM Friday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.

Susanna Sue Hofer was born May 16, 1943 at Tschetter Colony to Jacob and Mary Hofer. She died May 26, 2010 at Bethesda of Beresford at the age of 67 years and 10 days.

Sue lived at Tschetter Colony until she moved to Beresford in 2002. She took care of her parents until their deaths. In May 2003, Susanna was employed by The Visiting Angels and was sent to assist Vera and Casper Voog where she worked a few months. Sue was hospitalized and treated for cancer and after a brief recuperation, she returned to the Voog residence where she lived and worked until March 2009. Following Casper Voogs death, Sue was employed at Bethesda of Beresford from September 2005 and spent four years there. She loved her work.

Sue was attending Brooklyn Evangelical Free Church when she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior. In September 2007, Sue accompanied Vera Voog to California. This was her first airplane ride and she enjoyed her three weeks visiting with the family of Veras daughter, JoAnn.

In March of 2009, Susanna left the Voog residence and moved into her own apartment where she remained until illness forced her to return to stay with her sister, Rebecca Decker.

Her parents; infant brother, George; brother, John Hofer; sister-in-law, Lena Hofer; brother-in-law, Dave Wurtz and nephew, George Decker preceded her in death.

She is survived by her three sisters, Maria (Sam) Waldner of Raymond, SD, Hilda Wurtz of Mount Upton, NY and Rebecca (George) Decker of Alcester, SD; four brothers, Jacob Hofer, George (Rachel) Hofer, Richard (Lizzie) Hofer all of Olivet, SD and Toby Hofer of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Lydia Hofer of Lamberton, MN; four aunts in Canada, one uncle, Mike (Anna) Hofer of Arlington, SD and a big family of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
