Susan D. Lessman died Monday, June 8, 2020, at home surrounded by her family, at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 28 days. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 16 at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Beresford, SD.

Susan Messler was born in Beresford, SD on January 10, 1951, the daughter of Ralph and Patricia Messler.  She attended Beresford High School and graduated in 1969.  She worked for Sunrise Retirement for the past 12 years in Sioux City, IA.  She really enjoyed taking care of all the residents in that community and loved bringing joy to their lives.

Susan was a hard-working mom that loved all of her children dearly.  She enjoyed traveling to the Black Hills, cheering on her children in all of their sports, and loved playing cards with family.  She was a very compassionate, caring, and loving mother that did everything she could for her children.

She is survived by her mother, Patricia Messler of Beresford, SD; her children, Jason St. Pierre of Sioux City, IA , Carrie Lessman of Sioux City, IA, and Ryan (Kara) Lessman of Maryville, MO.; and four siblings , Ruth (Larry) OConnor of Beresford, Daniel Messler and David Messler, both of Los Angeles, CA, and Kristi Meltzer of Centerville, SD.  She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph T. Messler; sister, Karin Louise Messler; and her daughter, Jennifer St. Pierre.
