Steven L. Jurgensen was born November 25, 1948 in Sioux Falls, SD to parents Lowell and Corine (Hamerly) Jurgensen. He died October 19, 2011 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 24 days. Steve married Kay Foss on October 1, 1987 Steve graduated from Beresford High School in 1967 and from Sioux Empire College in 1976. He served in the United States Navy from November of 1967 to January of 1969. Steve worked at Reed Sales, Beresford Liquor Store, managed the VFW Legion Lounge, the University of South Dakota as a purchasing manager and most recently at Citibank. Steve was a member of the Beresford Zion United Methodist Church where he directed the choir and served on the board. He was also a member of the Beresford American Legion, New Arrivals Barbershop Quartet, Sioux Land Vocal Band Barbershop Quartet and the Sioux Emperians Barbershop Chorus. He was a past member of Elks and Moose Lodge, Beresford Ambulance Association and had served as an EMT. Steve loved cooking, singing and hunting but most of all he enjoyed his time spent with his wife, kids and grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Russell and David. His survivors include his wife Kay Jurgensen of Beresford; two daughters, Heather Sigaty and husband Mike of Sioux City, IA and Jennifer Jurgensen of Inwood, IA; two sons, Justin Jurgensen and wife Camio of Sioux Falls and Brian Jurgensen and wife Kelli of Sioux Falls; 8 grandchildren, Christopher Jurgensen, Chelsie Sigaty, Zachery Heaton, Kyle Heaton, Cheyenne Heaton, Alexis Lawrence, Camille Kelly and Cayden Jurgensen; 2 brothers-in-law Warren Foss of Omaha, NE and Loren (Carol) Foss of Sioux Falls; his special friend and hunting dog, Leyna, and many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, October 25 at Beresford Zion United Methodist Church. Family will be present on Monday from 6PM to 8PM at the church with a prayer service beginning at 7PM.
