Steven Lee Johnson was born August 10, 1952 in Yankton, South Dakota to Edwin and Roberta (White) Johnson. He died May 30, 2017 at his home in rural Beresford, SD at the age of 64 years.
He was raised in the Hub City area where he attended grade school. Steve graduated from Beresford High School in 1971 and served in the US Army from 1972 to 1975. He returned to Beresford and worked for local businesses. Steve married Natalie Larson on April 3, 1982 at Komstad Covenant Church. Together they raised their three children north of Beresford. Steve was a self- employed carpenter for the past 20 plus years. He enjoyed the outdoors, caring for and riding his horses. He loved spending time with his numerous friends and his two special grandkids.
Steve is survived by his wife of 35 years, Natalie; his three children, Cassie (Jim) Van Kekerix, Olivia Johnson and Jedediah Johnson all of Beresford; two grandchildren, Andrew and Allie; three brothers, Arden (Dianne) of Moline, IL, Gary of Sioux Falls and Brad (Glenda) of Beresford and a sister-in-law, Diane Johnson of Sioux Falls; and many nephews, nieces and relatives. His parents and one brother, Tom, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 2PM Sat., June 3, 2017 at Komstad Covenant Church, rural Beresford. The family will be present 5-8PM Friday at the church with a prayer service at 7PM.
