Signe L. Bystrom Hendrickson was born Sept. 13, 1916 to August and Emma (Carlson) Peterson. She died May 27, 2009 at Bethesda of Beresford at the age of 92 years and 8 months.

Signe married August Bystrom June 26, 1938. They lived on a farm in Clay County near Dalesburg. He died in 1966. She later married J. B. Hendrickson who also preceded her in death.

Signe attended Newdale country school. She was confirmed member of Dalesburg Lutheran Church where she was active in the Women of the ELCA and was a member of the Beresford Senior Citizens. For many years Signe was employed at Bethesda of Beresford. She enjoyed a close relationship with many good friends and her family. Signe entered Bethesda in November 2008.

Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her son, Alvin Bystrom of Beresford; daughter, Gloria (Lewis) Kribell of Alcester; sisters, Hazel Vennard of Vermillion and Vernie Keller of Beresford; brother, Lloyd (Joyce) Peterson of Beresford; sisters-in-law, Ila Mae Peterson of Sioux Falls and Phyllis Peterson of Viborg; grandchildren, Jeff (Deborah) Kribell of Brandon, Jim (Connie) Kribell of Beresford, Jere (Andrea) Kribell of Sioux Falls, Dan (Paula) Kribell of Langley AFB, VA, Tom (Melissa) Kribell of Alcester, Rob (DeAnne) Kribell of Beresford and Kari (Craig) Caruthers of Yankton; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.

Her parents, both husbands, two brothers, Raymond and Everett Peterson and a great-grandchild preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009 at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
