Obituary

Funeral services for Sharon Johnson will be Friday, Dec. 28th at 2:00 p.m. at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Scandia Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. The family will be present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Sharon (Knudson) Johnson died Tuesday, December 25th at her home surrounded by her family after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 11, 1954 at Viborg, SD to Boyd and Loreen (Olsen) Knudson. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1973 and attended Nettleton College. She worked for Sioux Valley Hospital for 31 years as a surgical technician. She was baptized and confirmed at Scandia Lutheran Church. She married Larry Johnson on August 27, 1977. She served as Sunday School Superintendent for a number of years. She was active with the Centerville Christian Women's Club and held many positions on the board. She had a keen sense of humor and a quick wit. She loved camping, shopping, sisters' outings, her family and especially her precious granddaughter, Madison. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Larry; son, Matthew of Centerville; daughter, Rachael (Cody) Carstensen and granddaughter, Madison of Wakonda; parents, Boyd and Loreen Knudson of Centerville; six sisters, Karen (Larry) Ellis, Joyce (Marty) Buseman, Jan (Doug) Stevens and Lori (Kevin) Hecht all of Centerville, Kathy (Larry) Schultz of Sioux Falls and Pam (Barry) Hughes of Alcester; two brothers, DeLee (Vickie) Knudson of Canton and Dale (Sherrie) Knudson of Centerville; mother-in-law, Ardis Johnson of Centerville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth (Garry) Pliska and Diane (Roger) Starks all of Sioux Falls, Dale (Betty) Johnson of Centerville, Jerald (Nancy) Johnson of Higley, AZ and David (Alicia) Johnson of Sioux City, IA; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
