Sharon (Hoffman) Ivarsen was born February 17th, 1942 in Chancellor, South Dakota to Heinie and Francis (Hysel) Hoffman. She died on July 6th, 2023 in Sioux Falls at Avera Heart Hospital at the age of 81 years, seven months and six days.
Sharon was raised in Beresford and graduated from Beresford High School in 1960, where she met the love of her life John Ivarsen. During their relationship John served in the United States Army before they were married September 23, 1961. During their marriage, they lived in multiple locations in the countryside of Beresford and raised their four children; in 2007 Sharon and John moved into Beresford. Sharon was especially grateful for the neighbors she had there, and the close community.
As a member of Romsdal Lutheran Church, Sharon served on the Ladies Aid and was a member of The Circle. She worked in Canton, SD as activities director for many years. Her passion in life was family, which she deeply cared for. As a creative outlet, Sharon would spend many hours scrapbooking, and through this means she captured memories that turned into gifts. At graduation all her grandchildren received heavy books made by hand. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending their activities and lastly traveling with sisters and friends. Sharon was thrilled to become a great-grandmother and talked about Nash every chance she got and was patiently waiting the arrival of her second great-grandchild due in August.
Sharon is survived by her sons Grant, Brian (Heather) and Steven (Shannon) all of Beresford; grandchildren, Maverick (Beth Gustner), Nathan, Adam (Olivia), McCade, MacLane, MaKoy, Kaylee, John, Sarah and James, great-grandson Nash, her sisters, Glenda Morton of Sioux Falls, Jeanine Peterson of Lafayette Louisiana, Kaye Henle of Sioux Falls, and brother Jim (Ann) Hoffman of Sioux Falls, many nieces, nephews, precious friends and special Goddaughter Krisanne Henle of Sioux Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, daughter Laurie, infant son Steven John, her parents Heinie and Francis Hoffman, her sister Maxine Eite Miller, brother Harold Hoffman, and in-law's Magnus and Alice Ivarsen.
