Sandra J. Rasmussen was born October 20, 1954 in Hawarden, Iowa to Lowell R. and Joyce E. (Johnson) Pearson. She died April 8, 2023 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 68 years, five months and 18 days.

Sandra was raised on the family farm north of Alcester with her two sisters. She attended Elmwood Country School and graduated from Alcester High School. Following her high school graduation, she attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion for two years. Sandra joined the US Army in 1978 where she was a radiology tech and medical assistant at Fort Lee, VA. Following her honorable discharge, she returned to South Dakota. She worked as a secretary at Dakota Pallets when she met Gregg Rasmussen. They were married August 10, 1985 at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester.

She and Gregg raised their two children in Beresford. In her younger years Sandra liked to read, sew and bake.

Grateful for having shared her life is her husband of 38 years, Gregg Rasmussen of Alcester; son, Chris Rasmussen of Beresford; daughter, Rachelle (Joel) Heisterkamp of Ogden, IA; sisters, Susan Shires of Beresford and Janice (Paul) Walter of Alcester and several nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 10AM Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Alcester.
