Ruth Mae (Vrana) Lind was born June 1, 1936 to Thomas and Alice (Ruzicka) Vrana in Wahoo, NE. She died November 25, 2012 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 24 days. Ruth was baptized and confirmed at Prague Presbyterian Church of Prague, NE, attended county school by Malmo for grades 1-8 and graduated from Malmo High School in 1953. She then went to Luther Junior College in Wahoo, NE from 1953 to 1955 and received an Associates Degree in Education. She taught at the elementary school in Genoa, NE for 2 years following graduation. Ruth had met Robert Lind previously, when she went home for the weekend with her roommate from Luther College, Marjorie Lind Eggleston. She and Robert were married on August 10, 1958 at Prague Presbyterian Church. She taught at the elementary school in Fremont, NE for 2 years while Robert was working there at Valley Manufacturing. They moved to Alcester, SD in 1959 to operate the Lind family farm. Ruth was a teacher's aide in the Alcester Elementary School from 1976 to 2011, and worked in the kitchen at Morningside Manor for many years. Ruth was involved with VFW Auxiliary, RLD and Eastern Star. She was a member of Nathanael Lutheran Church and served in many roles during her time there. Preceding her in death are her parents Thomas and Alice Vrana, husband Robert and a sister Mary Ann Lewis. Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her son Bill Lind of Alcester; daughters and grandchildren, Jennee (David) Canavesio and Emily and Andrew, Joanne (Thomas) Harkin and Rosalind and Patrick, Margaret (Trent) Telford and Garrett, Keaton and Avery all of Oklahoma City, OK; brothers Fred (Kathleen) Vrana of Malmo, NE and Ben (Marilyn) Vrana of Columbus, NE; her aunt Clara Vavak of Wahoo, NE; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, December 3, 2012 at Nathanael Lutheran Church, Alcester, with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday at the church from 6PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM.
