Ruth Feeldy was born February 25, 1921 in Hudson, SD to parents John and Emma (Hammerstrom) Quarnstrom. She died August 7, 2008 at Mantey Heights Care Center in Grand Junction, CO at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 12 days. Ruth graduated from Hudson High School in 1939. She married Gordon Sorlye in 1941 and Gordon died in 1947. In 1949 she married Almer Feeldy. The couple farmed for many years in the Hudson area. They moved into Alcester in 1980. Almer passed away in 2001 and Ruth moved to Grand Junction, CO and had resided there until the present time. Ruth was a member of Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester, SD. Her hobbies and interests included crafts, ceramics, flowers, bingo and listening to polka music. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Gordon and Almer, and her sister Olga Twedt. Her survivors include two sons: Spencer Sorlye and wife Lynne of Grand Junction, CO and Steve Feeldy and wife Kathy of Mitchell, SD; 2 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and her brother Ted Quarnstrom of Hudson, SD. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, August 14, 2008, at Nathanael Lutheran Church, Alcester, with burial at Romsdal Cemetery, rural Beresford. Visitation with family present will be Wednesday from 6:30PM to 8:00PM at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester.
