Ruth E. Christensen was born October 30, 1921 in Viborg to C. Miller and Jennie (Petersen) Christiansen. She died January 6, 2022 at Bethesda in Beresford at the age of 100 years, two months and six days.

She was raised in Viborg where she graduated high school in 1939. Ruth attended Nettleton Commercial School in Sioux Falls and worked as a bookkeeper for Crystal Bottling Company. She married Ellsworth Christensen on April 27, 1943 in Blytheville, Arkansas where Ellsworth was stationed in the US Air Force during WWII. She went with him when he was moved to bases in Montana, Louisiana and Georgia. They moved to Shelley, Idaho in the mid-1950s where Ruth worked as a bookkeeper for a lumber company and was active in the Methodist church.

They retired back to South Dakota in the mid-1970s and settled in Beresford. Ruth and Ellsworth were active members in their church, Beresford Zion United Methodist. Ruth was a great cook and loved to play cards, she was a part of four Bridge clubs at the same time. Ruth did excellent sewing and needlework projects in her lifetime. She is a former member of her beloved Eastern Star and she enjoyed to travel.

Grateful for having shared in her life is her sister, Faith Christiansen of Sioux Falls; several nieces and nephews, and her sister-in-law, Frances Christensen of Viborg. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ellsworth.

Memorial services will be at 11AM Monday, January 10, 2022 at Beresford Zion United Methodist Church.
