Funeral services for Russel Jeffords will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30th at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville. Burial with military honors will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-7:30 p.m. at Wass Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Russel Jeffords was born February 23, 1926 in Centerville, South Dakota to John and Margaret (Flannigan) Jeffords. He died May 26, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Centerville at the age of 81 years, three months and three days. Russel was raised and attended school in Centerville. He served in the 304th Infantry Regiment in the US Army during WWII in Europe. Following his honorable discharge, Russel returned to Centerville. He worked with various construction companies including many years for Sweetman Construction. Prior to his retirement, Russel worked for the City of Centerville. He enjoyed fishing. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers William Jeffords and Jack Jeffords and three sisters, LaVerne Knispel, Betty Iverson and Lucille Leaf. Survivors include his seven nieces, Sharon Bartle of Sioux City, IA, Mona Jeffords of Sioux City, IA, Melanie Dicks of Sioux City, IA, Sue Bowers of Spokane Valley, WA, Margaret Love of Las Vegas, NV, June Maio of Priest River, ID and Avis Ver Plank of Idyllwild, CA; nine nephews, Mike Jeffords of Sioux City, IA, Terry Jeffords of Akron, IA, Bill Jeffords of Sioux City, IA, Ron Jeffords of North Sioux City, IA, Scott Jeffords of Sioux City, IA, John Boline of Spokane, WA, Steve Boline of Spokane, WA, Lee Knispel of Mesquite, NV and Danny Leaf of Cheney, WA; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
