Ruby E. Marshall, 97, died Dec. 7, 2008 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden , IA. A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at Big Springs Baptist Church , rural Alcester , SD. She donated her body for medical education to the University Of South Dakota School Of Medicine .

Ruby was born June 18, 1911 and adopted by Adelbert and Mary (Ford) Richardson. She was raised and educated in Deloit , Iowa . She worked at Denison Hotel and Cronks Café in Denison , IA. Ruby married Earl Marshall on Dec. 6, 1930 and they lived on a farm south of Dow City , IA for many years.

She was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church and lived at Morningside Care Center in Alcester prior to moving to Hillcrest in Hawarden in 2005.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, twin sons who died in infancy, Eugene and Russell and four brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Norman) Klaus of Hawarden, IA; son, Bob (Carol) Marshall of Palos Heights, IL; seven grandchildren, Randy (Becky) Klaus, Pat (Ted) Kern, Peggy Hicks, Martin Klaus, Ron Klaus, Mark (Patti) Marshall and Kathryn (Leonard) Stelly; 12 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Travis, Melissa, Jacob, Logan, Austin, Lauren, Angie, Matt, Lisa, Jill and Michelle; and four great-great-grandchildren, Alison, Meghan, Mia and Hannah.
