Obituary

Rosemary Anne Weiland, 60, was called to the Lord on March 29th, 2026, surrounded by her family, following a courageous 23-year battle with cancer.

Rosemary was born in St. Paul, MN, to Donald and Audrey Erickson on July 22, 1965. She was raised in St. Paul alongside her big sister, Anne Marie. After graduating from Derham Hall High School in 1983, she attended Presentation College in Aberdeen. Upon earning her nursing degree, she moved to Dallas, TX, and started working at Children’s Medical Center before moving to Sioux Falls to work at Sioux Valley Hospital. It was there that her close friend and co-worker, Kathy Anderson, set her up on a blind date with Don Weiland. They married on June 11, 1994 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Sioux Falls.

Throughout her life, Rosemary was a woman of profound faith, generosity and unconditional love. She cherished her career in nursing and the nursing family she built throughout her career. Her four children and her grandchild were her pride and joy, and she always made sure they knew how deeply they were loved.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Rosemary will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Grateful for having shared her life are her loving husband, Don; her four children, Seth (Justyce) Weiland, Victoria (Zachary) Dalberg, Faith (Frank) Hines, Caleb Weiland; her grandchild, Kollyns; her sister, Anne Marie; special friends, Karla Birgen, Sarah Antonson and Sherri Busch; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Audrey Erickson; her brother, Paul Erickson and many other friends and family.

Funeral services will be held at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Beresford, SD, at 10:30 on Thursday, April 2, 2026. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1st from 4 to 7 at the church where the family will be present to greet friends. A rosary and wake service will be at 7. Burial will take place at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.

Rosemary requested that everyone wear their scrubs or favorite bright colored clothing.
