Ronald Lyle "Foxy" Lavoy was born January 10, 1940 in Lansing, Michigan to Lyle and Virginia (Vroegindewey) Lavoy. He died June 6, 2024 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 84 years.

Ron lived in Lansing and Kalamazoo, MI before his family moved to South Dakota. He graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1957. Ron attended the School of Mines in Rapid City and lived in Sioux Falls before joining the US Army. He was stationed in Germany for four years in the early 1960's. Upon his discharge Ron returned to South Dakota where his lifelong love for cars took off. He worked as a mechanic and enjoyed drag racing and especially dirt track racing. This passion was shared generationally, starting with his father and going down through his children.

Ron was a life member and past commander of the Tea American Legion, life member of the Parker VFW and a sharp pool player. He was an active member of the Siouxland Renaissance Association and loved the festivals. In describing Ron, his family said, "Dad couldn't be explained, he had to be experienced!"

His parents, brother, Robert "Bob" Lavoy; step-son, Jamie Stene; and his two wives preceded him in death.

Ron is survived by his children, Karmen (Matt) Sawh, Kevin (Lisa Rusch) Lavoy, Kori (Jason) Cox and Lindsay (Chris) Heisel and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10AM Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Wass Funeral Home, 301 N 3rd Street, in Beresford, SD. Burial with military honors will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Beresford. Visitation will be 5-7PM Monday at the funeral home with the family present.
