Ronald D. Harkness, 77, formerly of Alcester, SD, died Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Mercy One Hospital in Sioux City, IA.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Big Springs Baptist Church.

Ronald was born September 16, 1942 in Elk Point, SD to Donald and Helen (Dunham) Harkness.  He grew up in Elk Point.  He married Karen Satterwhite on November 19, 1960 and they were blessed with their 6 children.  He married Judy Hayford on December 23, 1985.

Ron was a truck driver traveled the lower 48 Unites States many times over.  He was a true car-buff and loved rebuilding cars and could fix anything car-related.  He also loved his motorcycle and spending time on the open road.  He was a devoted grandpa and was an active and faithful member of Big Springs Baptist Church.

He is survived by his 5 children, Scott Harkness, George Harkness, Debbie (Fred) Hansen, Tina (Shane) Rosenbaum and Robbie Harkness; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; his brother, Rod Harkness; and sisters, Linda and Nancy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his daughter, Ronda Harkness; his parents, Don and Helen; and 2 brothers, Danny Harkness and Terry Harkness.
