Obituary
Ronald L. Saugstad was born in Canton, South Dakota on November 19, 1960 to parents Leland and Jean (Jensen) Saugstad. He died at his home in rural Beresford surrounded by his family on September 18, 2018 following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was raised on the family farm that started his love of farming. He attended school in Beresford and graduated from Beresford High School. Ron married his love, Wanda Hubert, on June 23, 1983. He farmed until 1987 including raising farrow to finish hogs. Ron worked for Reed Sales in Beresford and then started his electrical journey with Sorlein Electric. In 1999 he started his own business, R&W Electric, that he ran until the present.
Ron was a very special guy with a big heart. He loved the great outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Pheasants Forever and the National Wildlife Turkey Federation. He enjoyed camping, gardening and canning. Ron was big on family BBQ's and spending as much time possible with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Saugstad of Beresford; three children, Heather (Brian) Ivarsen and Ashley Saugstad all of Beresford and Jonathan (Katie Erwin) Saugstad of Sioux Falls; two grandchildren, Kaylee Jo Faye Ivarsen and Beckett Leland Saugstad; his mother, Jean Saugstad of Beresford; two brothers, Ryan (Teresa) Saugstad of South Sioux City, NE and Erik (Angie) Saugstad of Beresford; his in-laws, Darrell (Kay) Hubert of Beresford; two sisters-in-law, Pam (Jim) Larson of Mitchell and Patty (Kendell) Knutson of Centerville and brother-in-law, Don (Pat) Hubert of Canton. His father, Leland and brother, Jason preceded him in death.
A memorial service and reception will be held at Klassix (formerly the VFW Legion Hall) in Beresford, SD on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 PM.
