Visitation will be 3-5PM Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford with his Celebration of Life service following at 5PM. The family requests memorials sent to Beresford Public Schools, c/o #1 Fan, 301 W Maple Street, Beresford, SD 57004.

Roger was born May 28, 1942 in Beresford, SD to Walter and Katherine (Zweifel) Krause. He was raised on the family farm in Lincoln County, where Vision Solutions is located. He attended rural school near Beresford. Roger did numerous chores on the farm; whether he was milking cows or taking care of the chickens, he loved all the animals.

His life was lived with gentleness and forgiveness. He loved sharing his favorite prayers and poems with everyone he met. Roger could often be seen riding around town on his bicycle and he was a lifelong fan of the Beresford Watchdogs sports teams. He was so proud to have been inducted into their Hall of Fame.

His parents and an infant brother, Lawrence Krause preceded him in death.

He is survived by his last living uncle, Freeman Swanstrom; numerous cousins, and a host of his Watchdog family and friends.

The family extends a special thank you to Roger’s cousin, Esther Larsen, and all the staff at Bethesda of Beresford for the loving care and companionship they gave him over the years.
