Roger D. Knutson was born January 7, 1949 in Viborg, SD to parents Bernest and Juna Knutson. He passed away on January 22, 2016 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 67 years and 15 days.

Roger graduated from Centerville High School in 1967. He then worked for the airlines in Chicago and lived for a time in Oregon before moving back home. He married Jane Ellis on April 6, 1974. Roger farmed his whole life and held several other jobs, which included working at Sioux Steam, managing the Centerville Co-op, and Showplace Wood Products. He retired in 2014. He had also served six years in the Army National Guard.

Roger was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a lifelong member of Scandia Lutheran Church. Even though he didn't speak of it very often, he had a deep faith in God and held tightly to his relationship with Jesus Christ throughout his life. To say Roger was a car enthusiast would be "putting it mildly". He was a Mopar man through and through and enjoyed rebuilding cars. His favorite was his 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury. He belonged to a few different car clubs and along with his family attended many car shows. He was an excellent mechanic and was an automotive mentor to many young men. He was also an avid fisherman.   Whether it was fishing trips or car shows, Roger's love in life was spending time with his family.   He loved them dearly and will be remembered as a great husband, dad and grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bernell.

His survivors are his wife Jane, Centerville; two daughters, Sherri (Todd) Beresford, Wynstone, SD and Shelli (Phillip) Eide, Centerville, SD; 8 grandchildren, Ally, Ashton, Aiden and Ava Beresford and Sophia, Lillie, Tessa and Izzie Eide, Centerville, SD; his brother Ardel (Lyla) Knutson, Beresford, SD; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Scandia Lutheran Church, Centerville, with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery, rural Centerville. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 6PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM.
