Robert D. Landon, 82, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Centerville Care & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Komstad Covenant Church.
Robert D. Landon was born March 16, 1936 to Floyd and Vanice (Peterson) Landon. He grew up in the Beresford area, attended Komstad Country School and graduated from Beresford High School in 1953. He married AnnaBelle Groethe on February 26, 1956 at Komstad Covenant Church, where he was a lifelong member. He and AnnaBelle raised their family on the farm where he proudly worked the land and raised black Angus cattle for 44 years.
Bob emphasized family and laughter in work and play, a trait which he has passed down to his children. Bob always tried to attend his children's activities even during planting and harvest time. During their lifetime together, Bob and AnnaBelle enjoyed many activities including dancing and golfing with family and dear friends. In their later years, they enjoyed snowbirding in Texas, and traveling to the east and west coast visiting family and friends.
Bob was a member and past president of the Lion's Club and was sexton of the Komstad Covenant Cemetery for 43 years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed problem solving from real life experiences to games.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, AnnaBelle Landon, Beresford, SD; his son, Barry Landon, Bella Vista, AR; daughters, Debra Landon, Beresford, SD, Ann (Troy) Anderson, Windsor, CO and Robin (Mike) Westra, Windsor, CO; grandchildren, Carissa (Ace) Perreault, Joshua Landon, Bethany (R.J.) Larson, Alexa Landon-Heinbuch, Victoria (Maxwell) Williams, Sam Westra and Annie Westra; great-grandchildren, Jaiden Larson, Skye Perreault and Quinn Perreault; sisters, Yula (Jim) Weber, Beresford, SD and Mavis (Marv) Hass, Rapid City, SD; and sister-in-law, Diane Landon, Bersford, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Vanice Landon; his older brother, John Landon; his younger brother, Verlyn Landon; sister-in-law, Shirley Landon; his grandson, Andrew Landon and nephew, Mike Weber.
