Robert Henry Fedde was born to Arthur and Carrie Fedde April 4 ^th , 1930 in La Junta, CO. He graduated from Fowler High School. While at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, he met Lola Sorheim. They were married June 21,1952 at Bethany Lutheran in Howard, SD.

During his years at Luther Seminary in Minnesota, Elise and Mark were born.  Kari and Miriam were born while Lola and Robert were in Morden, Manitoba starting a home mission congregation. Kathy, Rachel, and Heidi were born in Brazil where Lola and Robert served with the ELC (then ALC) organizing new congregations and surrounding preaching points in the towns of Cianorte, Umuarama, Ponta Grossa, and Cascavel, all in the state of Paraná. They returned to Rio de Janeiro where Robert was an organizing pastor of three suburban congregations and later served one year at Union Church.

In the U.S. Robert was a pastor for Immanuel and Scandia Lutheran in Centerville, SD, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran, Hickman, NE, Moe Lutheran Parish of Hudson, SD, Messiah Lutheran of Flandreau, SD, and St. Paul Lutheran of Hull, IA. After retirement in 1995, he served as interim pastor in Hull, IA, Emmanuel Lutheran at Beresford, SD, and Trondhjem Lutheran of Irene, SD. At Memorial Lutheran in Sioux Falls, he loved taking communion and amaryllis plants to shut-ins.

Being a farm boy stayed with Robert, as gardening was his passion.  Growing vegetables, flowers, and fruit trees was his way of relaxing. In Brazil he also raised chickens. Tennis and swimming were his favorite sports activities well into his seventies and eighties.  He enjoyed playing games with family as well.  Wherever the family lived, he built swing sets, wading pools, and play houses for the kids and grandkids. Telling Dad jokes brought out many a laugh and/or groan. His main wish was that everyone come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior and prayed for us by name every day.

Robert died October 20, 2020 after battling dementia with complications from Covid 19. Those blessed to have shared his life were children Elise (Scott) Helland of Gurnee, IL, Mark of Saint Louis, MO, Kari (Tim) Ostrem of Centerville, SD, Miriam (Todd) Klemme of Bagley, MN, Kathryn Barrett of Omaha, NE, Rachel (Donald) Nelson of Medford, WI, and Heidi of Fargo, ND; grandchildren Jennifer (Benjamin) Christopher (Sonja), Sarah (Jon), Amy (Mark), Daniel (Heidi), Rachelle (Carl), Jerilyn (Andy), Joel, Micah, Alexa, Kira, Nicholas, Derek, and Andrew; great-grandchildren Anders, Annika, Isaac, Anna, Kaelynn, Evelyn, James, Zander, Aden, Synnove, and Aria; siblings Mary (Warren) Switser of Fowler, CO, Charles William "Bill" (Bonnie) of Oakland, MD, Thomas (Pat) of Fowler, CO, and Linda (Robert) Pierson of Stuart, FL; brother-in-law Dennis Sorheim of St. Paul, MN, and many other relatives and friends.  Robert was preceded in death by his wife Lola, brother Harry (Billie Jean) of Pueblo, CO, sister Carol Tollefson of Kansas City, KS, brother-in-law Richard (Dorothy) Sorheim of Buffalo, MN, sister-in-law Janice (Robert) Awes of Chicago, IL, sister-in-law Phyllis (Dennis) Sorheim of Mendota Heights, MN, and brother-in-law Dwight Sorheim of Howard, SD.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
