Robert "Rob" Bendt, 53, died Sunday, July 12, 2020 at his home in Centerville, SD. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 15 at Komstad Covenant Church, followed by a prayer service and time of sharing at 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 16 at Komstad Covenant Church. Memorials may be directed to Rob's family or to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund at www.names.lawmemorial.org
Robert "Rob" Bendt was born February 17, 1967 in Adrian, MN to Lester and Cynthia (Brickson) Bendt. He graduated from Worthington High School in 1985. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country until 1993. He married Kyong and they were blessed with 2 children, Cynthia and Robert Dean Bendt Jr. He met the love of his life, Michele Weg and they married on September 22, 2001. They were blessed with their 2 children, Mya and Josef.
Over the years, Rob worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons throughout the country. He recently co-owned Re'Dezign in Beresford with Michele. He enjoyed antiquing, finding unique items, and was known to love "rust and crust". Rob was a true outdoorsman. He especially loved hunting, even teaching his kids to enjoy the hunt with him. He liked softball, was a Nascar fan, and enjoyed all the Minnesota sports, especially the Vikings, the Twins and the Wild. He was known to take over the tv to watch any sporting event, no matter what it was.
Rob is survived by his wife, Michele, Centerville, SD; his children, Cynthia Bendt and Robert Dean Bendt, Jr, both of Massena, NY, and Mya Bendt and Josef Bendt, both of Centerville, SD; his step-mother, Christine Bendt, Sioux Falls, SD; his siblings, Beth (Scott) Smith, Colorado Springs, CO, Arron (Jael) Bendt, Burnsville, MN and Darron Bendt, Sioux Falls, SD; and many beloved family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Cynthia Bendt; his brother, David Lee; and his grandparents.
