Robert D. Anderson, 83, died Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm, Thursday, July 27 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford, SD with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service.

Robert D. Anderson was born December 12, 1939, in Alcester, SD to Julius and Elsie (Vetos) Anderson. Robert grew up and lived in Alcester with his parents and his siblings, Ruby, Lawrence, Earl, and Joyce. Robert was baptized and confirmed at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester, SD. Robert went to grade school at Rural Miller County School and graduated from Alcester High School in May 1958. Robert played football and basketball in high school. Robert graduated from Sioux Empire College in 1976. Robert met the love of his life, Donna L. Anderson, in 1964. They married on February 27, 1965, and moved to Beresford, SD and raised their 4 children.

Robert was a general plant operator at L.G. Everist from 1958 until September 1961. On September 10, 1961, Robert went into the U.S. Army and completed his basic training in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Robert was stationed in Bamberg, Germany until September 1963. Robert returned to Hawarden and worked at the SD Highway department until 1973. From 1973 until 1982 Robert was the Assistant Manager for Great Plains Supply. Starting in 1982, Robert worked for Truck Towne Truck Stop until he retired in March of 2010.

Robert loved his family and spending time with them. Robert and Donna spent a lot of time fishing and hunting together and he loved his woodworking projects. Robert enjoyed the garden and taking care of his flowers.

Robert is survived by his four children, Tina (Gary) Lorensen, Westfield, IA, Troy Anderson, Colorado, Kim (John) Limoges, Centerville, SD, and Jay (Jennifer) Anderson, Broomfield, CO; 7 grandchildren, Nick Lorensen, Chad (Mary Anne) Lorensen, Victoria (Max) Williams, Tyler Limoges, Gabrielle Limoges, Jackson Anderson, and Noah Anderson; 3 great-grandchildren, Oliver Lorensen, Iris Lorensen and Greyson Williams.; his loving 4-legged companion, Sally Ann; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Elsie and his wife Donna.
