Rita Mary Sellner was born August 22, 1944, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota to Walter and Mathilda (Rosenstengel) Sellner. In August of 1944, Rita became a child of God by Holy Baptism. She attended country school in Stark Township, Minnesota and attended St. Mary's High School in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. Rita moved to Willmar, Minnesota in 1978 where she was employed by Willmar Cookie Company and Jennie-O Foods. In 1984, Rita graduated from the Parts Merchandising program at Willmar Vo-Tech. She lived in Arizona for three years and in 1988 moved back to Willmar, Minnesota. She was employed at Somody Supply, and then Hutchinson Technologies for 11 years. In 2009, Rita retired and started her favorite journey, spending time with her beloved granddaughters in Beresford, South Dakota. In December 2011, Rita took a vacation of a lifetime to Arizona with her dear friend Arlyce Peterson. Rita enjoyed reading a variety of books, gardening with a fondness for lilies, and spending time with her granddaughters, Katelyn and Rylee. Rita attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. On Wednesday, January 30, 2013, in Beresford, South Dakota, the Lord suddenly called Rita to his eternal home. Her time of grace on this earth was 68 years, 5 months, and 8 days. Rita is survived by her daughter, Carrie Ann Jacob (Shawn) Jacob, and grandchildren, Katelyn and Rylee Jacob of Beresford, South Dakota; sisters, Dorothy (Stan) Painter of Spicer, Minnesota, Delores (Delbert) Brede of Big Stone City, South Dakota, Rose Groebner of Albertson, Montana, Helen (Roy) Janni and Donna (Ron) Soukup of Courtland, Minnesota, Arlene (Frank) Matter and Kathy Platz of New Ulm, Minnesota; and a brother, Walter Jr. (Carol) Sellner of Hutchinson, Minnesota. She is preceded in death by her parents; her younger brother Wilbert Sellner, and by her brothers-in-law, Cletus Groebner and Tom Windschitl. Memorial services will be 2PM Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford with the family gathering one hour prior to the service.
