Richard J. Perry was born August 24, 1935 in Carpenter SD to Lawrence and Lucinda (Colyer) Perry. He died May 7, 2013 at the Centerville Nursing Home at the age of 77. He was raised in the Huron and Willow Lake, SD area. He attended rural schools and went to high school in Willow Lake. He served in the US Army from January 1955 to December 1957. He was married to Elizabeth (Nikki) Kornder on January 30, 1960 in DeSmet, SD. They lived in Iowa for 2 years and returned to South Dakota to live. He and Nikki had 5 children, Julie, Jim Brad, Brent and Clint. They moved to Centerville in 1972 and he spent the rest of his life there. Dick was a carpenter by trade. He was a member of Good Shepard Catholic and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, a daughter Julie from Rochester MN, a son Clint (JuLynn) from Centerville, daughter-in-laws, Candis and Margie, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 sister Linda (John) Phillippe, special niece Nancy (Jack) Moore, sisters -in-law, Joan (Merlin) Currier, and Anne Olson, brother-in-law Roger (Joyce) Kornder, Many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by three sons, Jim, Brad and Brent, his parents, his in-laws, three sisters, Peggy Schmidt, Sharon Price and Judy Eie, 3 brothers-in-law, 1 niece and 4 nephews. A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Centerville. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
