Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14th at Roseni Lutheran Church, rural Beresford. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Richard Anderson was born Sept 18 1948 in Vermillion, SD to Reuben and Lucille (Lundquist) Anderson. He died July 8, 2006 in Rapid City, SD at the age of 57 years, 9 months and 20 days. Richard grew up on a farm southwest of Beresford. He was baptized and confirmed at Dalesburg Lutheran church rural Vermillion. Growing up on the farm, Richard liked animals, especially cats, dogs and the Shetland horses his father raised. He attended Komstad grade school and later was a resident at Sioux Vocational School in Sioux Falls. Richard transferred to the Black Hills Workshop in Rapid City, SD where he presently lived. He worked in several jobs while there, including aluminum recycling, making fishing lures and woodworking projects. Richard participated in SD Special Olympics when he could and enjoyed showing you his ribbons and medals. His hobbies were fishing, bowling, billiards and ball games. Richard loved his family and enjoyed his niece and nephews. The family will miss him very much. Survivors include his two sisters, Rose (Ron) Dorsman of Sioux Falls and Delores (Les) Murra of Lead, SD, four nephews, Kevin and Aaron Dorsman and Gus and Chris Murra. His parents, Reuben and Lucille Anderson, one brother Robert and one sister Lois preceded him in death.
