Obituary

Richard ( Dick ) Andersen was born July 30th, 1945 in Viborg South Dakota to parents Marvin and Bertha Andersen. He passed away July 10th, 2025 at the age of 79.

Dick joined the Navy right out of high school, getting on a Grey Hound Bus 3 days after graduating to go to basic training at Great Lakes Naval Station in Chicago. After basic training he proudly served on the USS Princeton during the Vietnam war. After serving he graduated from computer school in Omaha and went to work for IBM in San Francisco and Toronto.  In 1974 he moved to Vancouver British Columbia and started his own courier company, Quick Silver.  His passion was back woods hiking, backpacking and photography. The more remote he could get the better he liked it and that was easy to find in his beloved and beautiful British Columbia. Dick also had a passion for cars especially Fords of which most special to him were his Black 1957 Retractable and White 1959 Thunderbird.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Bertha Andersen and a Great Niece Lexi Rae Bielau.  Among those who gratefully shared his life are his sister Connie Andersen of Friday Harbor, Washington, his brother Roger (Mary) Andersen, of Carbondale Colorado, a special niece Julie Bielau, nephews Marcus, Troy Bielau, Joe ( Riva ) Andersen, Dan Andersen, great nieces, nephews, several close friends especially Don and Leonard.

No one that is loved is ever lost they are in our hearts. If you need me, go to the forest there you will hear me whisper to you.

Dick was laid to rest in Vancouver, British Columbia at Boal Chapel and Memorial Gardens. There will be no service in Beresford.
