Obituary

Rhoda G. Christensen was born February 20, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska to Jacob and Alma (Christensen) Jacobsen. She died August 16, 2018 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 90 years, five months and 26 days.

Rhoda's family moved to Idaho when was nine but she returned to her home state to attend Dana College in Blair, NE. She received her bachelor of science degree from the University of South Dakota and taught school in Centerville, Canton and Vermillion.

She married Wayne Christensen in 1948 and they lived in Elk Point until he was appointed presiding judge of the second district in Sioux Falls, at which time they moved to Worthing. Rhoda enjoyed being involved with young people; she had taught Sunday school, served as Sunday school superintendent and taught Middle School. She served on the library board and was an instructor in swimming, folk dancing and crafts for the summer recreation programs. Her favorite pastimes were flower and vegetable gardening and oil painting.

She is survived by her three children, Deborah Dangel of Sioux Falls, Tanya Satter and her husband, Jeffrey of Sioux Falls and Clark Christensen and his fiancé, Terrin of Worthing. Also surviving are her sister, Martha Allen of Omaha, NE, sister-in-law, Wanda Davies of Milton, IA and brother-in-law, Gary Christensen and his wife, Madonna of Sarasota, FL. Rhoda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wayne.

Graveside services will be 11AM Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Beresford City Cemetery, Beresford, SD.
