Obituary

Funeral services for Ray Conlon will be Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. Ray Conlon was born September 17, 1917 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to parents Alfred and Charlotte (Kaiser) Lohaus. He died June 14, 2008 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 90 years, eight months and 27 days. Ray was raised in Wisconsin and worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps working in the upper Midwest states. He married Arlene Bute July 3, 1955. They lived in New Guinea for 6 years where Ray was a comptroller for the Lutheran Church. In 1963, Ray began working for the Good Samaritan Society; he worked his way up to the purchasing director for the Society. They lived in Washington, Kansas and South Dakota. Ray was the administrator for Bethesda of Beresford for seven years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed following the Minnesota Vikings and the Twins as well as doing jigsaw puzzles. Ray had a love of antique cars, owning a 1928 Pontiac he liked to show. He is survived by the love of his life for 52 years, Arlene Conlon of Beresford; daughters, Margaret Roehr of Mission, KS and Claudette Kalisek of Seguine, TX; son, Mark (Pat) Conlon of South Sioux City, IA; brother, Merlyn (Ethyl) Lohaus of Watertown, WI; grandchildren, Danny, Jennifer, Kristin, Monica, Christopher, Cory and Mark, Jr. and numerous great-grandchildren. His parents and sister, Eleanor, preceded him in death.
