Ramona Ericson, 93, of Hawarden, IA, formerly of Alcester, SD died Monday, June 27, 2016 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, July 1, 2016 at Big Springs Baptist Church, rural Alcester with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ramona Wilson Ericson was born January 1, 1923 on a farm near Alcester, SD to parents David and Jessie (Hamilton) Wilson. She attended Miller Country School and graduated from Alcester High School in 1940. After graduation she attended and graduated from Sioux City Beauty Academy. On September 16, 1945 Ramona was married to Derwood Ericson and lived on a farm in the Big Springs area until 2008 when they moved to a new home in Alcester. In 2013 both Ramona and Derwood moved to Mica Hills/Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden where they remained until their deaths.

Ramona was a faithful member of the Big Springs Baptist Church. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and filled many other positions. Ramona was a willing worker as her church and God's work were very important to her. She was a loving and caring mother to her two children, Sheryl and Barry and one precious grandson, Tim.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Derwood; three sisters, Ruth (Leslie) Bergdale, Mildred (Art) Ziegler and Louise Wilson and three brothers, Wesley Wilson, Leonard (Rosemary) Wilson and Dwight Wilson.

Ramona is survived by her daughter, Sheryl (Alan) Wetzel of Naples, Florida; her son, Barry (Julie) Ericson of Windsor Heights, Iowa; grandson, Tim Wetzel of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law, June (Mrs. Dwight) Wilson of Carl Junction, Missouri and many nieces, nephews and good, loyal friends.
