Ralph Ludwig Rasmussen was born November 25, 1953 in Hudson, South Dakota to Raymond and Eva (Daugill) Rasmussen. He died January 4, 2023 in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 69 years, one month and nine days.
Ralph was baptized and confirmed at Romsdal Lutheran Church, rural Beresford. Ralph was raised on the family farm west of Hudson and he attended Elmwood Country School until his freshmen year where he attended and graduated from Alcester High School in 1972. He worked for his brother Klaus at KR Construction for a couple years before coming home to begin farming with his dad Raymond. He married Mildred Hulleman on June 1, 1979 at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester and lived on the farm north of Alcester.
Although he farmed most of his life, Ralph was also a welder at Alkota Cleaning Systems for 30 years. He liked working on machinery, trap shooting, watching movies, driving around with grandkids, watching grandchild's sporting events, spending time with family, hunting gophers with his youngest grandson Raymond and keeping up with the latest gossip with his friends. Grateful for having shared his life is his wife of 43 years, Milly Rasmussen; and two sons, Stacy (Tonya) Rasmussen of Hudson and Troy Rasmussen of Redfield; eight grandchildren, Sabrina (Abel), Rylie (Bryce), Brigita, Caleb, Tori, Jorden, Cyrus, and Raymond; five great-grandchildren, with one on the way; his sister-in-law, Peggy Rasmussen of Ankeny, IA and additional family and friends.
