Patrick J. Cleberg was born February 28, 1942 on the family farm near Redfield, SD to parents Francis and Isabelle (Esser) Cleberg. He passed away on August 9, 2014 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 11 days. Pat attended Sharp rural school and graduated from Redfield High School in 1960. He worked on the family farm for a few years before going to Northern State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Finance. He married Barb Stuchl in 1963. The couple lived in Washington State for one year before moving back to Britton, SD when Pat began his career in banking. They moved to Beresford in 1984 where Pat was the President at First National Bank which later became First Savings Bank. He semi-retired at the age of 65, but continued working for the bank on a part time basis. Pat was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and was active in the Knights of Columbus. He was a past member of Toastmasters, Lion's Club, Britton Golf Course board and the Beresford Community Foundation. His hobbies included hunting, golfing, playing cards, gardening, community theater and spending time on his family farm. Pat had a zest for life and stayed busy with many projects and activities. His greatest love was his family and he truly loved the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Leon, Clyde, Raymond, Jermaine and Christian Carl in infancy. Surviving are his wife Barb Cleberg, Beresford; two sons, Terry (Bonnie) Cleberg, Sioux Falls and John (Elizabeth) Cleberg, Sioux Falls; 4 grandchildren, Avery, Aryn, Emerson and Sam Cleberg; five sisters, Irita Hubbard, Boise, ID, Bonnie (Del) Petzold, Lodi, CA, Ardis (Jerry) Hardie, Redfield, SD, Mary Lou (Phil) Schwartz, Redfield, SD and Madonna (Roger) Docken, Camano Island, WA; four brothers, Mark Cleberg, Redfield, SD, Joe (Kathy) Cleberg, Pinole, CA, Bob (Linda) Cleberg, Redfield, SD and Tony (Brenda) Cleberg, Rapid City, SD; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A funeral mass will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Beresford, with burial to follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery, rural Beresford. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 6PM to 8PM with a wake service at 7PM.
