Patricia Nielsen was born December 7, 1942 near Yankton, SD to parents Hjalmer and Ilene (Hoxeng) Jonason. She died December 14, 2011 at her home in Beresford, SD at the age of 69 years. Pat graduated from Volin High School and attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls. She married Robert Nielsen on July 7, 1961. The couple moved to Beresford where Pat worked at Raven Industries for over 20 years. Bob died in 2005 and Pat continued to live in Beresford until the present time. Pat was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was currently a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, photography, growing flowers and the companionship of her two dogs. She loved following the Beresford Watchdogs sports teams along with the Twins and Vikings. Bob and Pat were members of the "Beresford Card Club" for over 35 years and played many, many games of Pinochle. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bob. Pat is survived by two daughters, Diana Nielsen Saathoff of Rapid City and Dawn Miller and husband Pat of Garretson, SD; two sons: David Nielsen and wife Elaine of Minneapolis, MN and Dale Nielsen of Buffalo, WY; her brother Terry Jonason and wife Pat of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; and many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held 1:30 PM, Saturday, December 17, 2011 A Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Beresford. A memorial visitation with family present will be Friday from 5PM to 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
