Norma Pool was born December 18, 1937 to parents Richard and Rose (Mader) Fokken. She died February 3, 2015 at Centerville Care and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 15 days. Norma graduated from Lennox High School in 1955. She married Steve Pool on November 25, 1955 in Lennox. The couple moved to Centerville in 1961. Norma helped Steve on the farm and worked at the Good Samaritan Center in Centerville for 30 years, retiring in 2007. Steve passed away in 2008 and Norma continued to reside here until the present time. Norma was a member of Centerville United Church of Christ where she was active in the Women's Group. She enjoyed having her friends over or going to the Bakery for coffee and visiting. Norma's family was so important to her. She dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their many activities. She was preceded in death by her father Richard, husband Steve and brother Roger Fokken. Survivors include her mother Rose Fokken; son Mark (Melanie) Pool, Goose Creek, SC; two daughters, Sheree (Ira) Frericks, Sioux Falls and Kathy (Dan) Boomgarden, Davis, SD; 7 grandchildren, Mallory McCollister, Amanda Trapp, Adam Boomgarden, Jessica Robinson, Megan Alexander, and Stephen and Emily Pool; 8 great grandchildren, Samantha, Erica and Eli Boomgarden, Brady and Lucas McCollister, Anna and Katelyn Robinson and Thea Alexander; 4 brothers, Daryl Fokken, Ron (Betty) Fokken, Wayne (Lana) Fokken and David Fokken; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Centerville United Church of Christ with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery, rural Centerville. Visitation will be Thursday from 5PM to 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville.
