Norma Jean Jensen, died Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Centerville Care & Rehab at the age of 93 years. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, March 9 at Wass Funeral Chapel in Centerville, SD. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 10 at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville, SD.
Norma Jean Lee was born Dec 20, 1928 in Yankton SD to Norman and Helen (Handy) Lee. She grew up in Volin SD where she attended school and graduated from high school. She then attended secretary school. While roller skating at Swan Lake, she met Leo Jensen, they married April 22, 1947. They were blessed with their 8 children. Their family lived in the Vermillion area until 1962, when they moved to Centerville.
Norma loved caring for her large family. She was a great cook and enjoyed baking, especially bread and pies. She loved spending time in the garden then canning her harvest. She also did a lot of sewing. For several years, she did work outside of her home, at Dakota industries in Hurley and Irene.
Norma is survived by her children, Larry (Marichelle) Jensen, of the Philippines, Pam (Gary) Stewart, Worthington, MN, Tom Jensen, Vermillion, SD, Brenda Harold, Sioux Falls, SD, Brian (Teresa) Jensen, Centerville, SD, and Bruce Jensen, Denver, CO; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Clayton Lee, Volin, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her children, Don and Gwen; her grandchildren, Sherry and Tammy; and her siblings, Raymond and Marjorie.
